How it all started:
In 2014, Jim and Jessie Chakires envisioned a world where every child entering foster care would feel loved and supported from the very first day. This vision sowed the seeds for Luggage of Love, a charity devoted to providing children with gift-packed suitcases as they navigate through the pivotal transition into foster care.
Over the years, the journey has been both heartwarming and transformative. We’ve seen firsthand the power of a community united by compassion, with each suitcase serving as a tangible expression of love and care. These aren’t just items; they are symbols of hope, dignity, and support that accompany children as they step into a new chapter of their lives.

Our History
Jim and Jessie Chakires started Luggage of Love to provide gift-packed suitcases to children entering foster care. This will be the 9th annual Luggage of Love Campaign to benefit CASA Kane County. In 2022 we raised over $57,500 and over $232,590 since 2014!
The Reality
Foster children frequently have few belongings; just a couple outfits, photographs, and a stuffed animal or toy. When they are moved between families, these children are often forced to carry their few keepsakes and belongings in plastic trash bags. Carrying their items in bags can be embarrassing and yet another reminder of how little they own.
HELP OUR CAUSE
From October 19th to December 22nd we will be collecting donations of the following new items at Apex CPAs & Consultants office. Please stop in and help us help kids in foster care. Currently, we are only able to accept new items with tags on them.
